LIHWAP-Low Income Household Water Assistance Program
The Miami Tribe of Oklahoma Adult Services Department through the LIHWAP program will work to meet the Household Drinking Water and Waste Water Needs of Miami Tribal Members and other Native Americans. Our priority focus will be Tribal families nationwide with needs for restoration of household water services, reducing arrearages, and reducing rates charged to these households.
Who may apply: This program is for Miami Tribe of Oklahoma families nationwide whose household income meets or is below 60% of the State Median Income.

Adult Services
Adult Services provides educational resources, career resources and support services to prepare eligible individuals to become permanently productive in the workforce in an attempt to reduce joblessness among Indian people within the Tribe’s service area.
Adult Services provides educational resources, career resources and support services to prepare eligible individuals to become permanently productive in the workforce in an attempt to reduce joblessness among Indian people within the service area of the Miami Tribe. Assistance provided is based on each individual’s needs.
All assistance is governed by Federal law and requires applicants to meet eligibility requirements to receive assistance. All applicants must be an enrolled member of a federally recognized tribe, meet program guidelines and must live within the Miami Tribe’s service area to be eligible for assistance. Miami Tribal Members receive preference.
All applicants must complete required application to be considered for approval of services. Due to limited funding, assistance is not guaranteed.
Substance Abuse
The Substance Abuse Program is funded through Indian Health Services and provides education, prevention and treatment for children, adults, families and communities about alcohol and/or illegal drug use and abuse. We currently provide in-house and referral services to Native American persons with Miami Tribal members receiving preference.
Indian Housing Block Grant
The IHBG is funded through the US Department of Housing & Urban Development and provides services to Native Americans in the following areas: Indian Housing Assistance, Indian Housing Development, Crime Prevention, and Housing Management Services. Miami Tribal members receive preference.
Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program
LIHEAP is funded through the Administration for Children & Families and provides services to Native American individuals and families in the following areas: Heating Assistance, Cooling Assistance, Crisis Assistance, and Weatherization Assistance. Miami Tribal members receive preference.

2023 ARPA Rental/Homeowners Assistance
Available for Miami Tribe of Oklahoma enrolled tribal members. The grant will begin on January 3, 2023. The grant will run until funding is expended.

The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) provides services to Indian families for assistance with heating and cooling costs. This application can and may take up to 30 days to process.

Miami Tribe of Oklahoma Social Services and Housing Department has available a Rental Assistance Program to help tribal members who have lost their income due to job termination or situation(s) out of their control.

Miami Tribe of Oklahoma Housing Department has a program designed to provide funding to install or repair a storm shelter at an Indian homeowner’s residence. This addition or repair adds to the safety of the homeowner and family.

Miami Tribe of Oklahoma Housing Department has a program designed to provide funding to rehabilitate an Indian homeowner’s residence, through repairing noted code violations and safety conditions of the residence, by bringing the home up to standard living conditions.

The Miami Tribe of Oklahoma Social Services and Housing Department has three (3) 2-bedroom units that are completely unfurnished and one (1) two-bedroom unit, reserved for emergency assistance, available to Native American applicants. These units are rentals and require the submission of a completed application to be considered for occupancy. The application can and may take up to thirty (30) days for processing and you will be notified in writing the status of your application. Once approved, your application will be placed on a waiting list, as the units are leased on a first-come-first-served basis and are also based on the urgency of housing needs.

Computer Lab
The Miami Tribe of Oklahoma has a computer lab located at Tribal headquarters. Tribal members may use the computer lab and its resources for homework use, building a resume, and other services.
